Leadership & Involvement

UBC has a zillion of involvement opportunities for students to participate in both on and off campus clubs, conferences, peer programs, undergraduate societies, work study positions…. How do you know where to start? Or which ones to pursue?

This site aims to connect you with various opportunities to get involved on campus. There are two things to keep in mind when choosing how you want to shape your involvement on campus:

  1. Choose well, not all”. Don’t go overboard and get over-involved that you let your priorities slip away from you. Think about WHY you want to get involved and select an opportunity that is aligned with your future goals or interests.
  2. Challenge yourself”. We all have a tendency to gravitate towards getting involved in areas with which we are comfortable. Research has shown that the most learning is acquired when we challenge ourselves to go beyond our own comfort zones. Try to choose involvement opportunities that you are not as familiar with and wouldn’t naturally choose. You might be surprised at what you discover! You can also visit the Centre for Student Involvement for more involvement opportunities on campus.
