Kinesiology Transition Program

The School of Kinesiology considers learning to consist of so much more than the pages of your textbooks,  going far beyond the walls of a lecture hall. The School is committed to ensuring that every KIN student experience consists of leadership & involvement, learning & research, community service, health & well being and career & professional development.

The  Kinesiology Transition Program (KTP) is directly aligned with this commitment. The KTP provides each and every new student entering into the School of Kinesiology with a student mentor, who has demonstrated excellent leadership and contribution to student life within the School during their undergraduate degree. Each student mentor is called a MUG leader and is assigned a group of students, or MUG which stands for My Undergraduate Group.

MUG Leaders support their students as they transition into university through monthly events and activities designed specifically for new KIN students including; ‘Mix and Mingle with Your Profs & TAs’ social, academic workshops on effective study strategies, health and wellness workshops and fun activities that take students off campus to experience the city of Vancouver. This program is the gateway for getting involved on campus, becoming a student leader and having a smooth and successful transition into university and the School of Kinesiology.

As part of the Kinesiology Transition Program (KTP), MUG Leaders host themed monthly events that help ensure your student experience is the best it can be!

These monthly events are a chance for MUGs to catch up with your transition, connect with other new to program students, meet professors/TAs, learn about new strategies for success and socialize. They are also a chance for you to contribute to your roadmap in each of the 5 categories (learning & research, leadership & involvement, community service, wellness and career & professional development) – so after you attend each monthly event don’t forget to submit your reflection online to move closer to your goals!

These events are typically held on Thursdays and require you to register, as there will be lunch (or food) provided at each event. Click here
