Student Development is just one expression of UBC’s commitment to its students. The Student Development team works collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty across the University to deliver programs and services that advance student development, enhance student learning, and foster student leadership and involvement. Student Development’s main centre of operation is the Centre for Student Involvement located in Brock Hall, however there are many individuals working within the faculties and schools across campus.
In Kinesiology, Student Development aims to connect Kinesiology students with opportunities that can enhance the overall student experience including events, workshops and programs within the areas of learning, research, campus involvement, leadership, career and professional development, health and wellness and community service. KIN Student Development brings you programs and activities such as; academic support workshops (How to Handle KIN Mid-Terms), Peer Programs, Alumni Mentoring Program, KIN Leadership Appreciation Banquet, Dive into Research: KIN Lab Crawl and general leadership development. KIN Student Development works collaboratively with the Kinesiology Undergraduate Society to provide you with events and services that support student success including the KIN Tutoring Program and the KIN Career Fair.
An additional opportunity that can really take your student experience and learning to the next level, that is available to all UBC students is taking your degree over seas. Go Global is UBC’s exchange program offering a wide range of programs which enable students to study, research and learn in locations and universities around the world. International exchange and study abroad programs foster personal development, global awareness, meaningful engagement, and cross-cultural understanding. To find out more specific information, attend a Go Global info session at http://www.students.ubc.ca/global/events/.
