Research Involvement

The School of Kinesiology has many research facilities conducting leading research in a variety of fields. Getting involved in research, in any capacity, is a great way to enhance your learning, apply concepts learned in the classroom, learn about graduate research and get connected to involvement opportunities in research within KIN.

This page is to connect you with opportunities to volunteer as subjects in studies conducted by KIN graduate students and to events designed to introduce you to the different labs in KIN and the various people and opportunities within them.

Volunteer As A Study Subject

1. Up-to-date School of Kinesiology Research Opportunities!

There are tons of great ways to get involved with research in the School of Kinesiology.  To find out about all the current studies that are recruiting participants, click here!

2.  UBC Faculty of Foresty looking for survey-takers

The Interactive Digital Environmental Assessment Laboratory (IDEAL) is recruiting individuals for a survey related to visual quality of harvest designs.  The survey consists of rating a number of 3D photo-realistic landscape images.  If you are interested, and would like more information or would like to schedule a time, please contact the research team at ideal.forestry.ubc@gmail.com or at 604-822-6708.  The study will start collecting surveys on October 24th 2011 and participants will receive a $10 honorarium.

5. Unique Lokomat Study

Interested in motor learning, neurorehabilitation and/or biomechanics? If you want to get involved with some cutting edge research in this area a current MSc (KIN) student, Adina Houldin, is currently investigating the neural control of walking using the Lokomat Robotic Gait Trainer. If you are 19+ years old, healthy, and have no difficulties walking, you would be a perfect subject for the study. Your contribution would consist of 1 lab visit (2-3 hrs/each) at the Human Locomotion Research Laboratory at ICORD’s Blusson Spinal Cord Centre (818 West 10th). Please contact Adina at walkUBC@gmail.com or by phone at 604-675-8852 if you are interested in becoming involved!
